John and Judy Ahmann of Napa County were awarded the California State Board of Equalization Environmental and Economic Equalizer Award.
The award showcases stewardship of the environment and best business practices on farms and ranches.
The Ahmanns have been forward-thinking entrepreneurs for more than 50 years, said a news release. Among other innovations, their Napa property is now run exclusively by solar power, and their Berryessa land is irrigated by watershed. John also started a wastewater irrigation district in Napa County in 1976, which broke ground this spring to bring water to agricultural users.
