DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- On the day before Mother's Day, working moms are speaking out about paid, or in this case, unpaid sick days.

A group of working mothers held a forum in downtown Los Angeles.

They're trying to build support for a new bill authored by San Francisco Assemblywoman Fiona Ma.

Ma says it's unconscionable that six million California workers do not have paid sick days.

The Los Angeles City Council voted nine-to-one to support Fiona Ma's new measure on Friday.
