SACRAMENTO – Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez (D-Los Angeles) released the following statement regarding President Barack Obama’s State of the Union Address:

“President Obama laid out a clear and consistent vision for the country this evening. The President understands that our economy is not performing well enough for the millions of Americans who are still struggling to cope with the recession, and he made a compelling case for the kind of fiscally responsible investments we need to make in order to ensure America remains the most competitive and prosperous nation in the world.  The President made an eloquent and thoughtful call for our country to come together and solve our problems not as Democrats or Republicans, but as Americans, and I hope every member of Congress takes that message to heart.”
